Long-term ecological research sites (LTER sites) rather than rigid time-spatial extracts of landscape represent a dynamically and permanently developing monitoring areas forming a whole with the surrounding cultural landscape. This circumstance is, beside other, a great challenge for landscape ecologists to elaborate theoretical basis and methodological instruments of allocation, networking and monitoring of the long-term ecological research sites involved with identification of their time-spatial relations. Results of such study will not only facilitate comprehension and eventual correction of the obtained data about the proper landscape-ecological processes, phenomena, structures, functions and genesis at the individual long-term ecological research sites taking into account their time-spatial context, but will be successfully applied in decision-making process as far as their allocation and networking are concerned.
