In the recent decades, our landscape has been undergoing substantial changes. Landscape fragmentation by newly established roads and industrial and settlement infrastructure is globally considered one of the most serious threats to biodiversity. In the CR, the decrease of unfragmented areas by traffic (UAT) from 81 % in the 1980 to 63 % in the 2005 with the prognosis of 51 % in the 2040 confirms the obvious negative trend. Nature conservation finds itself at the stage of certain transition. The current predominant focus on the conservation of habitats should be extended to conservation of landscape networks. The current legislative protection of landscape networks is insufficient, therefore the article presents special concept of landscape connectivity of large mammals, usable for all of wide range of forest animal species. Finally, some general principles when minimising the barrier effect and wildlife mortality are recommended
