European Member States have currently completed preparation of the 1st Flood Risk Management Cycle and reported their Flood Risk Management Plans to the European Commission. Slovak Republic preparation was preceded by Pre- liminary Flood Risk assessment and compilation of Flood Hazard and Flood Risk Maps. This documentation fulfilled the requirements of national legislation mandated by European Community Directives; and this paper provides all basic information on our flood risk management planning in compliance with the responsibilities of central govern- ment authorities implemented by national legislation and EU directives.
