The Small Danube river dike is very important landscape element for biodiversity conservation in Bratislava cadaster. Many rare and endangered butterflies species occur here. Species Zerynthia polyxena, Melitaea phoebe and Glaucopsyche alexis are characteristic for dry and warm habitats, while species Lycaena dispar or Heteropterus morpheus for wet non-forest habitats. The river dike is a important migratory corridor in this region.
