Calamities caused by natural factors (by wind, water, insects) occured in past, they are in present and will sure not be missing in future. Forests cover more than 40 % of Slovakia area. Not only production forests are endangered by calamities, but they are also forests of protected areas. Generally there are two different approaches how to work out the calamity. The approach of Forest law is wood – working. The view of Nature and landscape protection law is spontaneous forest evolution. The best way to find consensus is to accord the law making. Particular examples show that it’s possible to manage calamity in protected area by consensus. Organisations taking part in working out calamity have to approach positively and endeavour to make consensus. Examples of calamities: 1996 in Osrblie, 2003 in Dobroč primeval forest. The forest enterprises have done more exacting operating and economic steps to protect some rare natural reserve in Slovakia and Europe also.
